The crew from the CBC 1997 State Championship Basketball team were in the building Tuesday night as Cardinal Ritter took over Christian Brothers College with a beat down of the Cadets.
The team that started the season off 2-7 has found their stride pulling off 7 straight with an impressive 86-69 victory over the 4th ranked large school in the area.
The pressure defense forced a lot of turnovers that led to easy baskets. They dominated the offensive boards and when Cardinal Ritter was open they knocked down some timely shots.
The Lions put together a total team effort led by Mario Fleming with 24 points. Brandon Ellington and Gary Clark were the X-Factor on the boards. Senior leader Malik Davis was a maestro finding open teammates for easy baskets.
With a little over one month left in the regular season, the Lions are proving they are a team to be reckoned with. Two wins against CBC, a victory over Soldan as well as a win over Hazelwood Central is an impressive feat for this young Cardinal Ritter team. The Lions confidence is escalating at the right time as they look to handle business the rest of the season.
